.:CHELSEA:. This home remodel had originally 2 bedrooms, and 1 bath, built in 1950 with concrete block and metal casement windows. Renovation design included a second story and 1 st floor remodel. Total remodel was over $250,000. Location in Atlanta, Georgia. The remodel of this house included the addition of a kitchen/family room, new bath, and bedroom for the 1 st floor. The new stairs leads to the upper 2 nd story renovation with a large Master Bedroom, Master Bath, and 2 nd bedroom with bath, a 2 nd story front porch with access from the 2 nd bedroom and upper hall foyer. The Master Bedroom has a cantilevered rear porch built in timber-frame style and provides intimate visual access to the outdoor landscape even though the porch is 3 stories tall. The 2 nd story front porch is also timber framed with large wooden columns attached over slightly oversized concrete columns on the front porch. The catwalk leading from the carport, and the carport, provides covered access to the front door. They are both timber frame construction with particularly fine timber frame connections to complement the craftsman style design. The kitchen cabinets are custom made, with granite counter tops, and stainless steel appliances. The kitchen design incorporates a craftsmans style, whereas the Master Bedroom cabinets are very modern, dressed with black granite, and Phillip Stark bath fixtures. The exterior finish of the 1 st floor was achieved by applying stucco over concrete block to achieve a hand crafted finish that incorporated well with the timber frame construction.
